Reuben Ong is a young photographer living and working in Singapore.

His first passion is music but he has not been able to produce the music he loves. Instead, he found the ability to transfer this love into photographs. Ever since, he has been an avid music photographer. He loves shooting his musician friends at concerts and of course to make new musician friends. More than that, he loves listening to his favourite compositions live.

Lighting design has also been a part of his life since coming into contact with it 3 years back. He has since devoted time to furthering his skills through industrial training. Within the short span of 1 year, he obtained considerable skills in lighting programming across various platforms. Recently, he designed his first ballroom dance showcase for the Singapore Management University. The ever-changing nature of stage lighting will most likely keep him interested for years.

Reuben read psychology and marketing as a double degree at the Singapore Management University where he graduated with a Magna Cum Laude in 2010. He was also heavily involved in the photography club as a logistics and training director. His exposure to theatre and dance started then where he was a technical advisor of the Events & Backstage department of SMU Broadcast & Entertainment. He was previously awarded a bronze in the Crowbar Awards 2010 in Nature and Still Life photography for his series Nature? and his collaboration work “Cemeteries” clinched his team the top award in the FCA Multimedia Journalism Prize.
